It has always been very interesting to visit my sisters farm - Garrington, Littlebourne near Canterbury. The photos show the farmhouse, whose location was mentioned in the Doomsday Book of 1086. ( a survey commissioned by William the Conqueror). Another is my sister Anne and horses (which have been a major part of her life for at least 60 years). Another is my nephew Robert on the newest piece of machinery - a sprayer that has a thirty foot wingspan when the arms are extended. The family own about 500 acres but Robert manages about 2500 acres on four different farms with only about four men.
There are complex arrangements for owning and sharing the costs of the
machinery between the four farms. The management also includes the maintenance of a comprehensive database that includes every field on the four farms, the history of crops grown, use of herbicides, yeilds etc.
