Maidenhead

Our last night was spent with Penny's school friend Anna near Maidenhead. They attended Ashford school 56 years ago. Anna drove us to Windsor where we attended Evensong. I was a chorister at St George's Chapel from 1946-1953. The choir were superbly blended even though there were only eleven choir boys and 12 Lay Clerks. In my day there were 22 choir boys.

St Albans

We visited Penny's recently wedded nephew Ben and his wife Charlotte in St Albans. On the way
out to dinner we did a quick visit to St Albans Cathedral where they were just starting to sing choral evensong.

200 th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo

The Cambridge University Library had an interesting exhibit commemorating the 200th anniversary of the battle of Waterloo. This was when Napolean Bonapart was finally defeated in 1815 by the Prussian  British armies in Belgium.

How do we look after 55 years?

After a magnificent dinner in St John's College it was time to go. Here is a picture of the four of us after 55 years. Unfortunately one of our close friends was taken by the grim reaper three years ago!

Some Cambridge history

My Grandfather was mayor of Cambridge
1937-1938. He owned three Chemist (Pharmacy) stores.

The store on King's parade is now a sweet shop.

This thermometer was the only remaining trace.

The sign " G Peck and sons " is still above the only remaining store opposite the Fitzwilliam Museum.

Rowing on the Cam

Just to prove we could still do it went for a row in a "Tub pair" on the Cam. Penny was our cox.
Friend Tom goes skulling three days a week.

Cambridge Reunion

Four of us and our spouses were at Emmanuel College 1958-1960. We are attending a Class of '60 - 55 year reunion!

There were about 150 premed students in our class. 76 are attending. 23% have died! The rest either unaccounted for or sent apologies.
