The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra

This years Musicfest Berlin was clearly focussed on Schonberg and Mahler. Last night it was Mahler's sixth symphony. To-night Zubin Mehta was conducting the IPO performing the ninth symphony. I was feeling a bit overdosed on Mahler in the first three movements but the last movement with its soft strings  introduction and very soft parts was so beautifully played. One appreciates that you should judge a great orchestra on how they play the soft parts.
