A few days in Kent

The headline in the Kentish Gazette is "Wettest August this century". Quite a contrast from this summer in Victoria. A normal months rain occurred in one day the day before we arrived!
We are staying with my sister Anne on the farm where she has lived for 50 years. I have always enjoyed visiting here because it is such a remarkable place where my sister has been part of the community, raised four children (and now eight grandchildren), bred horses and been an active farmers wife for all these years. According to the visitors book this visit will be the 49th time I have stayed in the farmhouse!
It was raining on and off on the first day so we drove to Margate, saw an extraordinary art display at the new Turner Contemporary Art Museum titled Provincial Punk by Grayson Perry. For me the impression was that the artist must be schizophrenic! A visit to the Margate lifeboat was of more interest. We were shown around by the (paid) coxswain. The RNLI in Britain is entirely supported by voluntary contributions unlike Canada.
We then went to Whitstable and had an enjoyable fish lunch at a restaurant overlooking Whitstable Harbour.
